Introduction: Although patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) -Crohns disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC)- are considered prone to malnutrition, studies have shown an increased risk for obesity, especially visceral obesity and metabolic syndrome (MetS).
